Fredéric Lornet Wine Dinner - Jurassic Wines vs. Modern Cuisine in March 2009

We invite you to join us in the second of our new series of ‘Discoveries Winemaker Tours’, a joint programme by m.a.x. concepts, wine merchant Cottage Vineyards (International) and local wine instructor, Damon Yuen, where the visiting winemaker and Damon, will lead you to discover each month some of the world’s most exciting and unusual wines paired to a range of exquisite cuisine in various m.a.x. concepts outlets.


Our second tour, entitled, “Jurassic Wines, Modern Cuisine” 25-28th March, 2009, will star the wines of Fredéric Lornet from Jura, France’s smallest AOC region (1,800 hectares) and the producer of the mysterious Vin Jaune (Yellow Wine), made from the controlled oxidation of the Savagnin white wine.  Fredéric’s rare wines will be paired to (1) European continental, (2) Thai/Vietnamese cuisine, and (3) fusion canapés.


The special highlight of this tour will be the pairing of the Fredéric Lornet Vin Jaune 2000 to (1) E-mian noodles in a Tom Yum sauce with Crab Claw and Jumbo Prawn or with (2) Baked Rock Lobster with Black Truffle and Morel Mushrooms.

培養好心情 - 巴黎大減價

紅酒 由巴黎到香港

酒博士特別介紹聖蒂美濃雙寶之一的 Ausone,因為此酒未入十大,所以價格相對便宜,2004年叫價600歐羅,網上價580美元,若算入運費,可能亦差不多。

事實上,到巴黎最好在1月或6月的全國大減價月,節前不減價,法國相當堅持。今年1月有事返港,錯失良機。 2007年在十六區的 Casino,趁減價買了一批2005年份的非十大。在 Grand Cru 內的波爾多,諸如高梅鐸四級紅酒 La Tour Carnet,每瓶12歐羅,當然搶購一空,到香港起碼加價一倍。

至於2008年的紅酒,快要買期貨 En Primeur 了,受市場大勢影響,價格應該不高。據巴黎大報 酒評家的意見,2008年不好,產量和品質都好不到哪裏去,但波爾多本地人則反擊,說有很多 very good 的好貨,但未有提及 excellent,大家「心照」。 事實上,連十大紅酒也跌價,美國華爾街人士已飲不起,那麼多只收年薪1美元的 CEO,哪有心情飲貴酒。

去年9月和城大同學們談了一節紅酒指數課,最具參考價值是 Liv-ex 100 點。2005630是一個分水線,這指數是一百分,而2005年是波爾多最佳年份,世紀之酒,吸引了不少對沖基金入市,兩年之內,炒起一倍半。2007630指數是250點左右,這時美國次按問題才剛開始,紅酒價在250點以下維持了九個月,到20086月還再衝上指數最高的264點,可見對沖基金的實力,紅酒市場太容易提升,但2008915的雷曼「地雷」,果然威力非凡,Liv-ex 指數從此下跌,2008年年底是跌回205點,四個月跌了23%,當然比香港恒生指數下跌46%、日經指數下跌42%,還是算有交代了,尤其在2007331前入市的基金,還是有賺頭的,繼續拋售不出奇,雖然今年1月底,指數升了1%,不足證明什麼。

今時好消費

但香港紅酒供應店還是在增加,Rare & Fine Wine 在上環開了分店,連日本的酒商 Enoteca 亦在去年10月到香港湊熱鬧,連新年老酒也有供應。筆者這一代在七十年代畢業的人,總在找這年份的老酒,此地居然有七十年代獅城三寶之首的 Las Cases,賣2680港元,對懷舊的紅酒客來說,今時今日是好消費,最重要是培養好心情。

情人節最合飲的紅酒是有「心」標記的 Calon Sêgur2004年只售498元,2004年的 Pontet Canet,筆者買時價錢只是448元,雖然當年在 En Primeur 只要20歐羅而已。2004年的靚次伯亦只售585元,無復當年勇矣。美國人最愛的 Gloria 影響最大,2003年已不足300元,而號稱日本人去年最熱門的紅酒,居然是南部 Corbières 區的 Dom De VillemajouDDV),2006年份的只售110元,日本的消費似比美國更低。

東亞投資者湧入紅酒市場


 


《倫敦時報》昨天報道,中國等東亞地區的投資者正分散投資,遠離股票等傳統投資工具,轉而湧入優質紅酒市場,一改這個市場的買家主要來自歐美的傳統。


歐洲主要優質紅酒投資公司之一Premier Cru Fine Wine指出,中國、日本及菲律賓的買家興趣日漸濃厚。根據該公司,紅酒瞬間成為東亞流行的投資工具,主因是人民幣和日圓兌英鎊轉強。


紅酒市場近月表現較股市佳,而且紅酒作為資產組別,在以往衰退中表現出色,均是吸引投資者的原因。


該公司的塞弗指出,中國過去五年紅酒消耗量大幅上升,中國人正慢慢適應紅酒錯綜複雜的口感,故紅酒成為廣為人知的商品。


他表示,在經濟衰退下,紅酒從身份的象徵,迅速變為可觀的投資機會。菲律賓是亞洲第三大紅酒消耗國,現已開設全球第二大的紅酒儲存倉庫,紅酒的投資市場正起飛,投資者向具紅酒專業知識及人際網絡的人士諮詢投資建議。


塞弗說,紅酒過去七年的投資回報平均每年達百分之十六,跑贏西方股市同期表現。他說,東亞投資者認為,紅酒較傳統股市及銀行相關投資更可信■
