Thank you for your support in our last tour, Tour 7 of the Discoveries Winemaker Tour featuring the wines of Washington State pioneer Kiona Vineyards Winery.
Kiona’s events in total this time boasted the support of some 292 participants!
We now invite you to join us in the 8th tour of our series of ‘Discoveries Winemaker Tour’, a joint programme by m.a.x. concepts, wine merchant Cottage Vineyards (International) and local wine instructor, Damon Yuen, where each month, a visiting winemaker and Damon, will lead you to discover some of the world’s most exciting and unusual wines paired to a range of exquisite cuisine in various m.a.x. concepts outlets.
Our eighth tour, entitled, “The Prestigious Elegance of Grand Chinon House Couly-Dutheil”, 21-26 September, 2009, will star the wines of renowned Chinon House, Couly-Dutheil led by the winery’s very own Mr. Christophe Surget.
And thus, we enter the Loire Valley, one of the most prestigious and beautiful wine regions of France, known by titles such as “the Garden of France” and the “Valley of the Kings”.
The region has acted as a place of inspiration for many poets, writers, and artists including: Francois Rabelais, George Sand, and Leonardo DaVinci with the smaller Chinon region of the Loire Valley, acting as a place of inspiration for winemakers. With its exceptionally mild, semi-oceanic climate, long sunny periods, and variety of soils, this region has all the qualities necessary to inspire the production of some of the world’s finest, most elegant, complex and expressive Cabernet Franc.
Of all the Chinon vineyards, Couly-Dutheil owns perhaps the most prestigious vineyards of all: the Clos de l’Olive and the Clos de l’Echo, situated on the prestigious clay-limestone soils of the Chinon plateaux, soils built for the production of sumptuous wines meant for aging. These vineyards were previously fought over by the Kings of England and France.
In this tour, you will have the chance to taste some very rare and treasured wines from Couly-Dutheil’s vineyards including: (1) their top cuvée, the Clos de l’Echo Crescendo 2003 which was granted 93 points by Wine Spectator, (2) the winery’s extremely rare Chinon Blanc 2007, made from Chenin Blanc grapes grown on 5.5 of the total 11 hectares of 100% chalky soils entitled to this appellation, and (3) the winery’s Interdit de Couly-Dutheil 2008, the winery’s second vintage of botrytised Chenin Blanc since its creation in 2003.

剛完成的七月份釀酒師巡迴演奏之Kiona 酒莊得到各位熱烈的支持,幾場宴會合共有292人參予。
我們誠意邀請閣下參加釀酒師巡禮旅程八 -- 美心集團旗下的m.a.x. concepts, 村鄉葡萄園(國際)有限公司及葡萄酒培訓講師袁大文先生每月都會邀請世界各地不同的釀酒師來臨香港。 與各位一同欣賞他們與別不同的葡萄酒之餘, 再配合由m.a.x. concepts製作的美食, 讓各位經歷一個充滿色、香、味的旅程。
在第八個旅程 ,我們會跟大家一同遊覽瑰麗幽雅的盧亞山谷的Couly-Dutheil, 而該酒莊的Christophe Surget會在2009年9月21-26日跟各位見面。
盧亞山谷是法國其中一處出產最有名氣而又美麗的葡萄酒的地區,該處亦被稱為”法國花園”及”皇帝的山谷”。
